I've tried other lash primer from brands like Clinique and Estee Lauder and wasn't impressed with their products because they didn't perform as well as I'd hoped when applied - too clumpy, not thick enough or just generally didn't cut it - especially for the price.
The nicest one I've tried (which I believe isn't for sale any longer), until I purchased the Dior lash plumping serum that is, was Bourjois Coupe de Theatre. This was a two in one double ended primer and mascara. I tried that while living in England (I don't think they sell this in the US) and it was fantastic. Gave great coverage, didn't clump and the mascara was decent too.
Unfortunately, they changed the product while I was living there, altering it from being a two in one to a normal one tube mascara and I didn't bother trying the updated product as I didn't feel it would be the same.
Recently when I needed a lash primer, feeling sad that I couldn't get my Bourjois Coupe de Theatre anymore, I picked up the Dior lash plumping serum from Sephora to see if it could impress me. And it definitely did, without question.

After primer! |
With primer and makeup too! (Excuse the crazy eye/forehead look here, I needed to make sure you could see the change in my lashes so I needed to look up!) |
- It gives superb non-clumpy coverage
- Application is really easy and the brush sizing is great for putting it on - you can cover a lot of the lashes quickly
- It provides an excellent base for preparing the lashes for mascara - does exactly what it should
- They've made the tube a bright white so that you can easily find it when searching for it, unlike other brands which might color their bottles silver or black which would be confusing when looking for a primer amongst mainly black colored mascaras!
This product is well worth the price ($28 - a bit of a splurge for me for a primer product). I was very pleased with it and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a superb lash primer.
