About

Hello and welcome to the "about me" tab!

I'm Katie and I blog, tweet and capture photographs of the people and things I love.  I'm pleased that you've visited Prattle today.

About Katie

I inhabit a pink world which includes a closet primarily filled with pink-colored clothes and where I write with my left hand.

I was born a cheery chatterbox (hence the name of the blog!), endlessly optimistic, terribly clumsy ("still working through it" is a phrase my family frequently uses to describe me!), a rule breaker and peacemaker, a to-do list creator and very organized, hopeless with directions, awful at lying and the type of gal who strives to make her parents proud.

A British man unexpectedly entered my life in 2010 and helped me understand the meaning of the famous Beatles quote: 'all you need is love.'  We got engaged last year in one of my new most favorite places, Venice, Italy.

Most of my life lessons were learned from my Mom, Kevin Arnold and Anne Shirley.

Wheaton and Wire fox Terriers transform me into a giddy six-year-old child and sometimes I watch YouTube videos of other people's wires just waiting for the day I can record and post videos of my own two fuzzy and small guys: Calvin and Hobbes.

I'm a 'talkin' proud' Buffalonian who will support the Sabres no matter where I roam.

All things vintage, shabby chic, dainty and detailed appeal to me.  My DIY inspiration and go-to decorating advisor is my mom who always taught me to decorate in odd numbers and to embrace the "good things" both in decorating and in life.

Time escapes me when I watch beauty, fashion, fitness, lifestyle and TED talks videos on YouTube.  Everything about self-improvement to become more confident and motivated inspires me.  I love Sephora and stop by the store in France when I'm traveling, even though we have them in America.

My fiance sometimes gets annoyed with the fact that I am never without a project or an idea for decorating, home improvements, matching-making etc. and I can sometimes be "difficult" regarding my need to fix/improve things.

Anise-flavored Christmas cookies, cookie dough and cotton candy ice cream, Labella Sicilia's lasagna, Pepperidge Farm goldfish and Nabisco graham crackers are all foods I love.  I acknowledge coffee as a food group and I take it blonde and sweet.

Carving pumpkins, the smells of fireplaces and burning leaves around autumn-time all make me smile and remind me of happy childhood memories like the year I dug a hole in my pumpkin when trying to get the seeds out and many Halloweens spent trick-or-treating with my sister, brother and cousins.  For me, Halloween is about going big or going home and my favorite costumes are ones made to look like inanimate objects.

Using a clothesline will always trump using a dryer. Period.  Once you go clothesline, you never go back.

I adore swimming, the smell of Coppertone sunscreen and other scents that remind me of the beach.  Three places in the world make me happiest: Mohawk Point in Ontario, Canada; Birmingham, England and Italy.

Mariah Carey and Toni Braxton songs are guilty pleasures along with watching hours of Lifetime movies and reality TV.

About Prattle

Prattle began years ago when I took an online journalism course during my studies abroad.  A very determined and unique teacher got all of the students in the class to start a blog, and I discovered that I liked writing for an online audience.  Topics on my blog focused on various things I was thinking about, roadblocks or milestones in my life, books I'd read and the stuff I liked most.

Since beginning Prattle, I've worked in public relations internationally for nearly two years and now am redirecting Prattle to reflect my current interests.  Future blogs might cover topics like beauty or hair product reviews, fashion and book reviews, comments on current events or what's happening in the PR world or reflections on brands or companies I like.

Please keep in touch through the "connect" tab and let me know if there are specific topics or questions you have for me or if there is a subject you'd like me to write about.  I always welcome blog ideas!
